Garden Firsts
I love it when the garden starts giving. We had our first salad today with salad, kale and parsley.
First Seedlings
Thank you Morning Dew Farm for these lovely organic seedlings which are now happily ensconced in the garden. Now I need to start my own. So much to do when spring hits Maine.
New Chicks in Maine
I chose Rhode Island Red, Dominique, Buff Orpington, Red Sex Link, Easter Egger, Silver Spangled Hamburg, Specked Sussex, and Welsumers.
This should give us a nice mix of personalities, egg colors, and foraging abilities. Some of the them will be homebodies and like to be petted, while others much more independent.
They arrived scared, confused, and unhappy. We will do our best to make them a home they love and keep them safe from predators. Welcome baby ladies!
Happy Valentine’s Day from Maine
Yummy food, and the best fries in Maine, at the East Ender in Portland. Happy Valentine’s day from Maine everyone.
Winter Chickens
The ladies do not much like the snowy weather. Luckily the super cold snap has passed. We are giving them lots of love and treats to keep them entertained.
